CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Caring for silk art and accessories
My textile practise incorporates the use of both natural dyes and non toxic fibre reactive dyes and I have a strict zero waste policy where I seek to utilise every piece of fabric and use the ends of dye pots on canvas in an attempt to throw as little away as possible.
Silk artworks must be displayed out of direct sunlight and in damp free conditions to preserve their colour.
Plant based dyes are considered to be a living colour and you can expect some shifting over time, this is the beauty of botanical colour! All fabrics are prepared and processed to ensure their longevity and with the right aftercare, can be enjoyed for many years to come.
All the silk wearables I offer should need infrequent laundering, normally a bit of airing will do the trick to resolve any lingering odours. If required silk can be hand washed in cool water preferably without detergent, however, a ph neutral brand can be used, I'll be posting more about this soon. It is recommended that you avoid the use of any harsh chemicals on the fabric as this can cause a permanent change in the colours.
Always dry flat and only iron slightly damp to iron out the creases.
